    What happens on first visit

When you visit for the first time I will take a full case history. You will normally be ask to remove some of your clothing and to perform a simple series of movements.Through a series of specific palpations, I will determine the areas of the body that lack mobility amd contribute to your problem. If it`s the kind of problem that`s suitable for my treatment I will then proceed with treatment.

    Will it hurt

With deep tissue work/massage the pressure generally needs to be fairly strong and firm to be effective. Any pain is often felt as a "good pain" or "it feels like it needs it". Pressure is never more than feels right or safe.

    How long will treatment last

    - Each session

The duration of each treatment on average is about 40 minutes. However, this can vary according to the nature of the condition. The reason for this is that its important not to "over treat" in certain circumstances, as much good work can be undone. Some conditions may meed more time, especially chronic ones.

Payment is for skill and knowlege not time.

  - Number of sessions

The number of sessions will vary according to the complaint. For acute pain, two or three sessions may be sufficient. for chronic conditions (been around a long time) treatment may be longer.

It is a common error to believe that the absence of pain signifies the condition has completely resolved.

Do i need a doctors referral

You can refer yourself staight to me. There is no need to see your doctor unless you have some particular concern or need reassurance. If on taking the initial case history or at any other time I think a visit to th GP is necessary, or some other specialist I will advise. However, people do often visist the GP at some point if they need pain killing medication.
